Lalitha Mahal Palace - Mysore

Located
just outside the city centre, this 1920's palace of the former
maharaja was built to host his most important guest, the British
Viceroy. The public areas are lavishly trimmed with ornate plaster
mouldings, huge pillars and beautiful domes, and broad marble
staircases rise majestically up through the three floors. The
best rooms are in the older section and, although quite simple,
they boast lovely Victorian furniture. Best described as shabby-chic,
this hotels charm lies in its look into a life of a bygone
era however, if one looks closely at the décor the age
of the palace does becomes apparent a fact reiterated with its
unreliable air-conditioning and hot water supply.
