Balsamand Lake Palace - Jodhpur

the banks of the Balsamand Lake, just outside the city of Jodhpur
this palace, the summer residence of the Maharaja has long been
synonymous with royal rest and relaxation. A fine example of
Rajput architecture, and built out of special Jodhpur red sandstone
the private palace is surrounded by lush, expansive gardens,
large stables and has a very elegant swimming pool surrounded
by marble arches. The Balsamand Lake, which the palace overlooks,
is an artificial reservoir, built in the 13th century, which
provided drinking water to the city.
The hotel has just 10 suites, all original in their design and
although the service can be a little erratic, this shortfall
is more than made up by the beauty and peace that this location
provides.
